Breast Lift Surgery With Implants
At the time of your initial consultation for breast augmentation with lift cosmetic surgery, your surgeon will discuss all aspects of the procedure, including the estimated recovery.
You will also receive instructions for post-surgical care once your procedure is completed. If you stay committed to the recovery process, you can expect safe and sustainable results from your procedure without any unpleasant complications.
Envy Aesthetic Center, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez, provides breast lift with implants surgery to patients in El Paso, TX, and surrounding communities.
Immediately After Your Surgery
Your breasts will be covered in dressing right after your breast implants with lift plastic surgery. Temporary drains may be placed in the incision sites to collect excess fluid. You will experience mild pain and soreness in the breasts as the effect of general anesthesia wears off.
Bruising and swelling will be more prominent in the first week, but will resolve quickly from the second week. You may experience some numbness in the incision areas and changes in areola and nipple sensitivity. It will take a few days or weeks for these side effects to subside, while some residual effects and minor swelling may last for up to three months.
Follow the Surgeon’s Guidelines
Make sure to follow the post-op care instructions that your surgeon or their team may provide you. They will advise you about taking care of your drains, following the schedule of prescribed oral pain medications and antibiotics, wearing your special surgical bra at all times, and refraining from bending, lifting heavy weights, and performing strenuous exercises.
Your surgeon may encourage you to perform light activities and take short walks at home in the first week so that the blood flow to your incision areas improves for faster healing. Visit your surgeon’s office for the scheduled follow-up appointments so that they can monitor your healing progress.
In the first few days, you should preferably sleep on your back instead of the stomach or sides. This will prevent any strain to occur in your incision sites while you are sleeping. If you have children to look after, you may consider hiring a temporary help or seek assistance from a family member or friend for the first few days.
Recovery after Two Weeks
With the first two weeks, you should have recovered enough to go back to your job, or resume your normal activities. But make sure that you only perform light physical activities at work for the next few weeks.
Your surgeon may allow you to resume all types of physical activities, including vigorous exercises and fitness regimen in about four to six weeks after your breast lift with implants plastic surgery.
Discuss with your surgeon about massage therapy, if it helps you to recover faster. In any case, the massage must be performed only by a trained therapist for safe results. Avoid direct sun exposure in your incision areas for several months to allow for full recovery and less scarring.
