Tummy Tuck Surgery

Tummy tuck procedure or abdominoplasty involves removal of lax skin from the abdomen and tightening of abdominal muscles. The procedure also involves removal of heavy fat deposits. The treatment can be effectively individualized to attain the aesthetic goals of all patients.

At the time of your initial consultation, your surgeon will discuss the steps involved in your tummy tuck cosmetic surgery procedure. Envy Aesthetic Center, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez, provides abdominoplasty to patients in El Paso, TX, and surrounding communities.

Anesthesia

Abdominoplasty can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Most plastic surgeons are likely to recommend general anesthesia for abdominoplasty anesthesia to ensure patient safety. The idea behind this is to relax the abdominal muscles completely. The surgeon can then perform the surgery with increased convenience and speed, which is unhindered by sudden muscle and body movement.

Incision Placement

Size and number of incisions will depend on the particular surgical procedure being performed by your cosmetic surgeon. For instance, a very tiny incision is required during a mini tummy tuck surgery. In comparison, during a circumferential tummy tuck surgery the surgeon will place the incision across the circumference of the waist.

This is done because it involves removing sagging skin from the back and hip region. In conventional tummy tuck plastic surgery, a single incision is placed between both the hip bones towards the front side of the abdomen.

Sculpting After Reattaching the Navel

Most tummy tuck procedures involve altering where the navel is located. This ensures the abdomen looks natural with tauter skin. A vertical incision will also be placed in the middle section. Your surgeon will decide which approach will create an aesthetic outcome. They will either create a new navel artificially or reattach it by making another minute incision.

Make the Abdominal Tauter

Abdominal muscles tend to become loose as you grow older. Tummy tuck cosmetic surgery allows surgeons the opportunity to tighten lax muscles and remove surplus fat and skin from the stomach area. Incisions are placed to disjoin the skin from the abdominal walls. The abdominal muscles are then pulled in and stitched. This gives the stomach region a more toned appearance.

Trimming the Skin

Most cosmetic surgeons try to place the incisions in discreet locations. Sagging skin in your stomach area may look as if it has been folded. In fact, the excess skin has been removed and not tucked. Tummy tuck involves stretching the stomach skin downward and tightening the abdominal muscles. Your cosmetic surgeon may also perform liposuction for removing stubborn fat deposits before pulling the abdominal skin taut.

Suturing the Incisions

The skin after the tummy tuck procedure is sutured using surgical stitches. The skin cells will work towards healing the incisions and naturally close the wound.

Tummy Tuck Procedure can be Combined

Steps of performing tummy tuck procedure differ among patients. This is especially true if the patient chooses to have the procedure performed along with other cosmetic surgeries. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez receives patients from El Paso, TX, and nearby areas for abdominoplasty.
