Combined with PRP
Microneedling combined with PRP involves using the plasma as a serum during treatment. We draw blood and place the blood in a centrifuge machine to separate the red and white blood cells. Platelet rich plasma is extracted and left in syringes for use in the treatment.
The skin is prepared with local anesthetic so the patient doesn’t feel any pain or discomfort during treatment. The microneedling device is designed with very small needles that puncture the skin up to 2.5 mm deep. The depth of the needles used in treatment depends on the treatment area and the device is passed over each treatment area at a steady pace. PRP is applied during and after treatment so the skin can absorb as much of the growth factors as possible.
Many patients heal very quickly after micro needling with PRP because of the high concentration of growth factors going into the skin. The micro needling device helps drive the growth factors deeper than a regular topical application, so the skin retains more of the compounds that help boost skin repair. Patients might experience some redness after treatment but this dissipates within a day or two.
