Long Distance Consultation
It may be difficult for an out of town patient to travel separately just for the pre-operative consultation. Dr. Gonzalez and his team will provide virtual consultation via phone and email and will take care that all your questions are properly addressed. Your patient coordinator at Dr. Gonzalez’s office will assist you to set up the virtual consultation.
You will have to send in your completed patient forms, including medical history by email. You should also provide digital images of your areas of concern for the surgeon’s review. Based on this information, you can expect to have a productive consultation where Dr. Gonzalez will determine the most appropriate procedures for you, and prepare a customized surgical plan tailored to your unique needs.
Scheduling Your Surgery and Pre-Op Preparation
Following your consultation, if you choose to go ahead with your plastic surgery with Dr. Gonzalez, your patient coordinator will help you determine a convenient date for surgery. You may have to undergo a few medical tests or routine blood work depending on your health condition.
You will receive detailed information about some precautions you must take in the days and weeks preceding your surgery. You will be required to avoid smoking for some time, and your schedule of some ongoing medications may have to be adjusted in consultation with your physician.
Travel Plans
Your patient coordinator will assist you or guide you about your travel and hotel bookings in El Paso, TX. It is a good idea to arrive in the city at least a day ahead of your scheduled surgery to acclimatize yourself to the new surroundings. You may have to plan for a week’s stay post-surgery for your recovery, but this can vary depending on the type of surgery.
You should preferably have a friend or a family member accompany you for your surgery, who can also stay with you for at least 24 hours post-surgery for your physical and emotional support. Once you return home after the initial recovery, you may continue to maintain follow-ups with Dr. Gonzalez through virtual meetings, or visit personally at any time if you have the opportunity.
